DJ Demarko - Global Groove

Centaur Records
Combining tribal beats, fierce vocals, and a handful of covers, DJ Demarko unleashes his first release with Centaur's "Global Groove: The Tour".

The Ellis Miah-produced cover of George Michael's "Amazing" starts things off combining pulsating beats and a great vocal, courtesy of Keo Nozari. The dancefloor smash "I Like It" by Narcotic Thrust continues down the vocal path, but by the third track we're thrust right into an all-out tribal thumper with "Dreams" by Kings of Tomorrow. "Dreams" is a blend of pounding drums, Arabian grooves, and a dark commanding male vocal. One of the biggest vocal tracks of the year is featured on this disc with the inclusion of "Searching" by Offer Nissim featuring Maya. This gorgeous female vox literally melts right into Offer Nissim's swirling synth beats. Unfortunately that level of female vocals takes a big dip on the next track, where Jemini covers Beyonce's "Naughty Girl."

The vocal does not hold a candle to Beyonce, and is at times downright piercing. Thankfully, Demarko recovers nicely with "Party Time" by RAW Deal. "Fuel to Fire" by Stuart feat. Maxine is an energy-infused vocal stomper and is the definitive peak of this disc. Another cover follows, this time of "All Things (Queer Eye Theme)" by Dihann Moore. A dark tribal, yet true-to-the-original cover of "Personal Jesus" finishes off the disc by Oba Frank Lords.

DJ Demarko offers a very well-mixed and eclectic blend of house and tribal beats on "The Tour," however, some of the energy is definitely lost on some of the covers. Despite that, the disc still has some great moments and shows that Demarko is one of the rising talents in the dance music scene.
