The latest in a string of hits on Canada's Hi-Bias Records, "Turn the Lights Off," by Dutch DJ/Producer DJ Jose, continues his winning formula. This particular vocal house track is his strongest to date with strong melody, beautiful vocals, and a package of seven different mixes that offers something for everyone.
Besides the original mix and single versions, "Turn the Lights Off" has mixes from DJ Mile vs CJ Stone, 2 Nefuse, Vernon and Praia, Sebastion Davidson & Licious K, Miguel Parch, and Mr. D. The original mix is focuses on the wispy male vocal and is highlighted by typical trancy synths. The 2 Nefuse version goes almost breakbeat with driving drums, a darker feel and what appear to be new vocal parts that are not in any of the other mixes. Vernon and Praia's "Del Sol" mix gives us a frantic 80s sound, whereas Miguel Parch gets progressive and Davidson and Licious K's mix is deeper house with less emphasis on the vocal. Mr D's mix is all trance all day with huge buildups and an elevated BPM. The DJ Mile vs. CJ Stone mix is the strongest of the bunch as it combines many elements of the other mixes into the total package. Driving drums, an original bassline, big builds and long, ethereal breakdown are all highlights of this 7 minute masterpiece.
If you like vocal house music, there is definitely a mix of "Turn the Lights Off" you'll enjoy.
